L’Ovile (sleeps 2) – One-bedroom, one-bath, ground-floor accommodation

L'Ovile was originally a small, enclosed pen for small farm animals to feed and bed down.  The farm family wanted these valuable “critters” to live below them because, in the winter especially, the heat from their small bodies would rise and warm the living quarters above.

Today L’Ovile is a lovely guest room with en suite bath, with its own modern heating system! This room provides a beautiful way for a solo traveler or a couple on a budget to enjoy the Tuscan countryside without the expense of renting kitchen facilities. Also, it serves as a lovely second bedroom and bath to either Il Granaio or Il Pollaio with internal doors that can be locked or opened as you wish.

This truly is a “room with a view”, overlooking the spectacular panoramic valley towards Pienza! The window screen allows the breeze in, and keeps insects out, and a fan is available for your comfort during the summer.

Although there is no separate kitchen or living area, the room’s amenities include a small refrigerator, toaster, microwave, electric moka coffeemaker, dinnerware for two, and basic cookware. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor grill and wood-burning oven and dine on the terrace.

L’Ovile has a roomy queen-sized bed that can be converted to two twin beds on request, a dresser, a closet with  plenty of hangers to accommodate your travel wear, and a small table. Extra blankets and pillows are provided in the room.

The bathroom is small but very comfortable and has a built-in shower.

The visually stunning terracotta tile floor and the wood and tile beamed ceiling date back to the 1800s and have been beautifully restored. Don’t forget to bring your slippers or warm socks.
